Diego Galeano (born 1980 in La Plata, Argentina) is a sociologist and historian, specializing in urban history, and social history of the police and crime. BA in Sociology (Universidad Nacional de La Plata, 2004) and Master’s in Historical Research (Universidad de San Andrés, 2010). In 2008 he was selected in the "Félix de Azara" Award (National Library of Argentina) and, as a result, he published the book Escritores, detectives y archivistas. La cultura policial en Buenos Aires, 1821-1910 (Editorial Teseo/Biblioteca Nacional, 2009). He also was a co-editor of the collective volume Mirada (de) uniforme. Historia y crítica de la razón policial (Editorial Teseo/UNRN, 2010). He is currently a PhD Candidate in Social History at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Under the supervision of Dr. Marcos Bretas. His PhD research is focused on the rise of South American Police Cooperation, particularly the exchanges between the urban police forces of Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, which were consolidated over the first three decades of 20th century.
